The Mille Miglia has always been more than just a race, it has been a proving ground for legends. Among those who carved their names into its history is Giuseppe “Nino” Farina, a daring Italian driver who would later become the very first Formula 1 World Champion in 1950.

Farina’s story with the Mille Miglia began in the 1930s, when he raced Alfa Romeos under the guidance of none other than Enzo Ferrari, who at the time managed Scuderia Ferrari for Alfa Romeo. Known for his aggressive yet precise driving style, Farina quickly became a crowd favorite, embodying the courage and determination that defined the Mille Miglia.

One of his most notable performances came in 1936, when Farina, co-driving with Stefano Meazza, achieved a brilliant 2nd place overall in an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900A, one of the most advanced cars of its era. Competing against seasoned drivers on treacherous Italian roads, his podium finish cemented his reputation as a rising star.

Farina was famous for his unique combination of speed and elegance. He often raced wearing a neatly pressed shirt and tie, believing that a true gentleman should look composed even at 200 km/h. This blend of refinement and raw talent made him stand out, and it was no surprise when he went on to become the first ever Formula 1 World Champion, carrying with him the spirit of the Mille Miglia.

Today, at the 1000 Miglia Experience Greece, we celebrate not only the cars but also the personalities who defined this legendary race. Drivers like Farina remind us that the Mille Miglia was never just about machines — it was about style, bravery, and a passion for the open road.

Because every mile in the 1000 Miglia Experience Greece is more than distance, it’s a piece of history.
